Love Your Ladies

I’m a girl’s girl. Ask anyone. My ladies come first and that’s just the way it is. When they need rides to the airport at 5 am, I’m their gal. When they need a good cry, I’ll be there too. And when they need someone to make being alone on Valentine’s Day not so bad, I’ll be their own personal love letter. I love my friends and you should too.

I’m here to talk about something that’s on my mind. So go grab your best girlfriends, bridesmaids, or daughters and let them hear this message. Give them a hug, hold their hand, and read this. Think about it and live it.

We all go through hard times. As women we need each other as a good support system. We are here to lean on one another. There is no better friendship than one that exists between women who constantly motivate, inspire, advise, listen, encourage, and love one another.

That being said lets use our words to build each other up and not break each other down. What we say to one another will forever be remembered. Let’s compliment, smile, admire, and praise one another’s accomplishments. Instead of envying one another, let’s instill confidence in one another.

It’s a great time to be a woman! Ladies are ruling the world and are stepping out of their traditional roles. Women are opening their own businesses, owning network television, running for office, and writing openly honest stories. Within all of this we must continue to push one another to be our absolute best. We must listen to one another. We must not judge one another. And we must see the potential in one another.

The bond between not just friendships but women in general is indescribable. Just the other day I was shopping at TJ Maxx and a lady trying on sandals stopped to ask me if the sandals looked okay. When I told her that they did (and they really did) I felt honored that she had asked me. She had put her trust in me, a stranger, and needed my valuable opinion.

It was then that I remembered all of the kind acts that women, some strangers and some friends, have done for me over the years. The friends, have been my guiding lights, my rocks, the real loves of my life, and my words of encouragement. They have listened time and time again to my same dramatic stories, and for some reason still keep me around. The strangers, (women), have given me nods of approval to outfits in the dressing room and have paid for coffee’s. But it is the women that have said the familiar and simple opening phrase, “good morning”, who are some of the women that I cherish the most. Saying “good morning” is cheerful and memorable, never dismiss it, and always return it.

Invest your time in good friends. Always be open to new friendships. If the time comes and a friend needs you and calls you when you’re about to go to sleep, rush over and be there for her. You can sleep later. If you have to spend a few extra dollars on a friend, it’s okay it will be repaid. If someone speaks ill of your women, dismiss it and build them up to that person. We are a better world when we all speak highly of each other.

Friends of 10 years or just friends of a few months, you are all the same in my eyes. Ladies you are loved, beautiful, and strong. You are worth more and you must believe that yourself. We are nothing without each other. Let’s lean on each other, grow from one another, and most importantly love each other. We can do anything. I’m ready to take on the world now, are you?

*This story was written on a rainy day at Java Cabana after feeling inspired by a couple of my friends.  The place says to have the “best coffee in Memphis.”  They didn’t lie.  Check out my iced coffee below.*
